The 4th Vienna Economic Forum of the CIS and Eastern Europe

The 4th Vienna Economic Forum of the CIS and Eastern Europe “Innovation and investment: the role of financial institutions in the development of the economies of the Commonwealth” is to be held in Vienna, Austria, on April 28 to May 1, 2010.

The annual forum became a traditional and authoritative platform for exchange of experience between financial institutions of the EU and CIS. Representatives of international financial organizations, commercial banks, investment funds, national development institutions, bodies of legislative and executive authorities of the CIS and EU, developers of innovation programs and participants of integration processes will gather in the capital of Austria. UNICEF hands over books to 850 schools in Uzbekistan

unicefChildren of 850 schools, participating in the “Child Friendly School” Program, will enjoy reading the classic books of world and Uzbek literature.

The presentation and handover of the new publications took place on 30 March at the Republican Education Centre with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan and UNICEF. Continue reading

“Milly and the Macy’s Parade” presentation in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan

Tomorrow, on April 2, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the Republican Children’s Library, named after Bayalinov, a presentation will take place of children’s book “Milly and the Macy’s Parade”.

The event will be attended by U.S. Ambassador Tatiana K. Gfeller, representatives of the State Agency of Culture of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, employees and readers of city libraries.

The book by American author Shana Corey published in Kyrgyz language, under the financing of the U.S. Embassy in Kyrgyzstan. The aim is to support the development of children’s literature in the official language in Kyrgyzstan. Copies of the Kyrgyz edition will be distributed to public libraries in all of the regions of the country.

According to the U.S. embassy, the event marks the International Day of Children’s Book.
