Uzbekistan Airlines “Uzbekistan Havo Yollari” has canceled its flights to Kyrgyzstan. Yesterday’s flight, April 19th, Tashkent-Bishkek was not fulfilled.
Flights to neighboring Uzbekistan carried out only through national airlines of Kyrgyzstan.
Employee representation “Uzbekistan Havo Yollari” in Bishkek also reported that all flights on April 19th were canceled.
As the Uzbek agency “Harakat” reports, observers attributed this fact to the recent deportation of citizens of Kyrgyzstan to the Tashkent airport, and a similar situation with the citizens of Uzbekistan in the Kyrgyz Manas airport.
On the eve of the national holiday, Day of Turkmen Carpet, the State Joint Stock Corporation “Turkmenhaly” announced a traditional contest to encourage preservation and development of the national art of carpet weaving, which has ancient roots in Turkmenistan, and also to stimulate creativity.
It should be recalled that the holiday in honor of the famous Turkmen carpets, celebrated in Turkmenistan in May, was established in 1992. Every year, best female carpet-makers of Turkmenistan – representatives of both older and younger generations, take part in this prestigious contest.
As the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) reports with reference to “Turkmenhaly”, the 2010 contest will be held in the showroom of giant-carpets at the National Museum of Turkmen Carpet. The competent jury will assess more than 100 carpets made of pure wool and silk, including traditional ornamental carpets from 1 to 4 square meters, as well as plot, landscape and portrait carpets and souvenir carpets. The best 30 carpets will be announced winners of the contest, which will be held in six categories.
On April 19th-26th Ashgabat will host an International Exhibition of arts and crafts and festival of national folklore, called “The spiritual treasure of mankind.”
As the Government Agency of Culture of Kyrgyzstan reports: “In order to participate in these international cultural forums, young artists from the “Peoples exemplary dramatized children’s choir “Ak shoola”, as well as representatives of the Kyrgyz State Art School named after S. Chuikov headed by the Director Tabyldy Baybosunovym, fly from Bishkek to Ashgabat today.”
The exhibition will feature the best works of the Kyrgyz students.
The works of young artists from the Karakalpakstan were presented at the International Exhibition of Children’s Art in Japan. Students from different cities of the Republic submitted 20 works to the jury, many of them were awarded with special certificates and gifts sent by the organizers of the Japanese city of Narita.
Special, gold certificates were awarded to two schoolgirls Nukus Ainura Sapekeeva and Herod Salamatowa. In total creative children from 29 countries and more than 1400 works were presented at the International Exhibition of Children’s Art in Japan. Students from Karakalpakstan participate in the exhibition for the second year in a row. In 2009 a number of their works has also been awarded with gold certificates.
Representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) visited Tajikistan to explore the possibility of expanding the activities of ADB’s work within the private sector in infrastructure and banking sector in Tajikistan.
