Clinton discusses human rights, regional security in Tajikistan

Dushanbe, Tajikistan (CNN) — U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton thanked Tajikistan’s president Saturday for his country’s support of efforts to defeat al-Qaeda and bring security to neighboring Afghanistan.

The Embassy of Kazakhstan will be hosting the Fourth Annual Kazakhstan – U.S. Trade and Investment Forum 2011 on December 7 in New York.

Uzbek British Business Visit

hartley-boothOn the eve of the 18th Uzbek British Trade and Industry Council meeting in London, the co-Chairman of the Uzbek British Trade and Industry Council, Dr Hartley Booth OBE, will be visiting Uzbekistan between 19-21 October 2011 for talks with Uzbek officials about the forthcoming  18th Uzbek British Trade and Industry Council meeting in London next month. During his visit, Dr Booth will co-host a reception at the Residence of British Ambassador, Mr Rupert Joy, for selected Alumni of UK universities and British businessmen resident in Uzbekistan with a business theme – ‘Exploring new Uzbek British business opportunities’.

Paul Beaudry and Pathways at “America Borboru”

On October 15, 2011 AIRC “America Borboru” hosted a meeting of 50 center visitors with New York jazz band Paul Beaudry and Pathways. The band members told about their background, history of jazz and of course about Louis Armstrong. The band performed some pieces of jazz music. Being asked to perform a piece of Kyrgyz music, the Pathways played a famous Kyrgyz melody from the song “Izdeim seni” by Ryspai Abdykadyrov, which amazed the audience. The visitors asked many questions like what the musicians think about Jazz in Kyrgyzstan, will the band come back to Kyrgyzstan etc. The best questions were awarded with small gifts including a CD of the band debut album released in 2010. After the event the visitors were able to chat with the musicians, ask for the signatures and take a group photo.
