The 3rd International Festival of Gifted Children “Avaza – land of friendship” started in Turkmenistan on May 28. The venue of the festival will be Ashgabat and Balkan province – the Caspian Sea coast. The festival was organized by the Ministry of Culture and Broadcasting, the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan together with the administration of Balkan province. The UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Turkmenistan also actively participates in the festival.

This year, the children’s forum brought together around 700 young talents, including 400 Turkmen citizens and children from 20 countries worldwide. Among them are young artists, musicians and readers, members of well-known folklore-ethnographic ensembles and dance groups, performers of folk and pop songs. Before leaving for the city of Turkmenbashi, young artists stayed in children’s health centers “Yashlyk” and “Nebitchi” located in the picturesque village of Geokdere near Ashgabat.

The opening of the children’s forum in Ashgabat was preceded by the parade of the festival participants who marched along one of the central streets of Ashgabat from the Turkmen State Puppet Theater to the capital’s amusement park “World of Turkmen Fairy Tales.”

Young artists will have the opportunity to take part in the opening of new children’s health centers in Avaza and a gala concert to be held in the amphitheater on the Caspian Sea coast. The festival will feature a number of events, including the International Children’s Forum, organized by United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Turkmenistan. The festival will close with a final concert on June 2.
