    Horses are wings of Kyrgyz people“At Chabysh 2010” annual festival will be held in Murghab, Tajikistan on July 17-18, 2010. “At-Chabysh 2010” is festival dedicated to the Kyrgyz horses. 20 Kyrgyz horses will participate in this event.

    “At-Chabysh 2010” used to be divided into four parts. However, since the tragic events in the South of Kyrgyzstan, the other 3 events were delayed. “At-Chabysh 2010” in Osh, Djalal-Abad and Issyk-Kul are postponed until year 2011. Read more »

    Turkmenistan to publish “Big Turkmen-Russian dictionary” in two volumes

    In 2010, the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan is to publish the two-volume “Dictionary of the Turkmen language”, the books “Elaborate vocabulary of the Turkmen language” and “Tasks of literature”. At the moment, the Academy is preparing to publish “Big Turkmen-Russian dictionary” in two volumes. Read more »

    Education Ministers of CIS discussed prospects of international cooperation

    Education Ministers of CIS discussed prospects of international cooperationThe 17th Conference of Education Ministers of the CIS member states was held on Thursday in Moscow. The issues regarding prospects of cooperation of corresponding departments in the medium term were discussed.

    Leaders of the Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund of the CIS member states and the CIS Executive Committee took part in the conference. The sides considered the issues regarding the organization of schools for young scientists, school and student contests and development of a network of collaborative institutions and their branches.     Fundraising Event in Kyrgyz Kazakh House Pasha Restaurant in London

    On the evening of the 7th July, exactly 3 months after the terrible events in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Open Central Asia Magazine hosted a splendid evening to raise money for its own offices that had been looted during the rioting. Some 50 guests enjoyed a fine Central Asian menu at the Pasha restaurant in Camberwell, as well as entertainment from Central Asian Musicians.

    World Bank Supports Reforms in Kazakhstan Technical and Vocational Education

    July 9th, 2010

    The World Bank Board of Executive Directors approved a US$ 29.2 million loan for the Technical and Vocational Education Modernization Project for the Republic of Kazakhstan in support of improved workforce productivity in key sectors and enhanced skills development capacity to meet the demands of key industries as well as the needs of small and medium businesses in Kazakhstan.
