    Azerbaijan to host mountain sport festival

    The Air and Extreme Sports Federation will hold a mountain sport festival for the first time in Azerbaijan July 14-18, the Federation said.

    The festival “Golden Rock-2010″ was organized with the support of the West University.

    Bouldering competitions, hiking to the Heydar Peak on Mount Shahdag, scrambling up the rocks with height of 200-300 meters will be held.

    Over 100 participants from 20 clubs of the Federation, as well as representatives of the Azerbaijani Federation of Alpinism will participate in the events.

    6th Youth Delphic Games kick off in Pavlodar

    6th Youth Delphic Games kick off in PavlodarSixth National Youth Delphic Games open today in Pavlodar. This year the Games are devoted to the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

    More than 500 boys and girls aged 10-25 from all regions of Kazakhstan gathered in the city on the Irtysh River. They will take part in various competitions, including piano, violin, pop singing, dancing, folk instruments, photography, DJ and web design.

    The Games are held to find and support talented youth. Organizers are the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan together with the National Delphic Committee with support of Nur Otan Party and Kazakh Culture Ministry.

    13 athletes to represent Tajikistan in I Summer Youth Olympic GamesThirteen young athletes will represent Tajikistan in the I Summer Youth Olympic Games, said Maliksho Nematov, the head of the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs.

    “Among them are Bahodur Qodirov (free-style wrestling), Abduqodir Barotov (track and field), K. Zayniddinova (archery), Sh. Shukurova (taekwon-do WTF), D. Atabayev (track and field), and some others,” Neamtov said.

    The 2010 Summer Youth Olympic Games (officially known as I Summer Youth Olympic Games) is the inaugural event of the Summer Youth Olympics, a major international sports and cultural festival to be celebrated in the tradition of the Summer Olympic Games from August 14-26 2010, during the XXIX Olympiad.  The Games will be held in Singapore, in a decision announced on February 21 2008 after mail voting by 105 members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).  More than 3,500 athletes will participate in Youth Olympic Games (YOG).  The YOG will feature 26 sports, forming a total of 31 disciplines.

    Privately-owned media may soon appear in Turkmenistan

    Turkmenistan may soon set up private newspapers and magazines, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said at the enlarged Cabinet meeting. “For example, I consider it necessary to create a newspaper or magazine of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of the country,” he said.
