    Azerbaijani film to attend _Kinoshok_ International Film Festival

    On September 13-21, Russian city Anapa will hold an International Film Festival “Kinoshok”. Film “The Dolls” by a director Chingiz Rasulzadeh has been invited to the festival, said the director himself. According to him, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism will prepare a high-level copy of the film in Russian for the festival. The drama film “The Dolls” deals with events happened in Azerbaijan in 1988 and the period of the Karabakh movement.

    Note that screen writers of the film are Ramiz Fataliyev, Chingiz Rasulzadeh, a director is Chingiz Rasulzadeh, a cameraman Yuri Varnovski, a painter Rovshan Mehdiyev. Mehriban Khanlarova, Abbas Gahramanov, Nubar Novruzova, Khalida Guliyeva, Javid Guliyeva and others star in the film.

    Turkmenistan joins the world’s twenty happiest countries

    Turkmenistan joins the world's twenty happiest countriesAccording to the Gallup World Poll, Turkmenistan jointed the world’s top twenty happiest countries, leaving behind the CIS countries, as well as Germany, France and Japan. Turkmenistan has taken the 18th place, next to the Great Britain, Mexico and the United Arab Emirates. According to Forbes, 52 percent of respondents surveyed in Turkmenistan admitted that they were totally happy, and only 1 percent of respondents said that they suffered. Denmark is on top of the happiest countries, followed by Finland, Norway, Sweden and the Netherlands.

    Researchers of the Gallup surveyed thousands of respondents in 155 countries, between 2005 and 2009. They asked subjects to reflect on their overall satisfaction with their lives, and asked questions about how each subject had felt the previous day. Other than this, respondents were asked to rate if they felt well-rested, respected, free of pain and intellectually engaged.

    Youth Bank Activ has the first results of its workOn July 12-13, 2010, in the conference room of the hotel “Astra” Youth Bank Activ conducted a final meeting on the work results of its committees in Kostanai, Taraz, Uralsk and Ust-Kamenogorsk towns as a part of the same-name project of the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA), which came to being in partnership with AYL “The Association of Children and Youth Organisations of Kostanai Region”(Kostanai), NGO “Zhambyl Zhastary” (Taraz), NGO “The Centre of Youth  Initiatives Zhardem-Contribution”(Uralsk) and PF “The Federation of Women “Status”” (Ust-Kamenogorsk), and through financial support from GSM Kazakhstan/Kcell.     Independent Anticorruption Council Established in Kazakhstan

    With the support of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, the Independent Anticorruption Council (IAC) was established in order to unite public associations, independent experts and representatives of businesses to help reduce the level of corruption in Kazakhstan.

    IAC activities are aimed at fighting corruption in Kazakhstan by providing objective information for state bodies and citizens on the causes of corruption, as well as on its possible solutions. At the moment IAC includes representatives of 15 public associations of Kazakhstan. Read more »

    EFCA Creates Jobs for Vulnerable Groups of TajikistanWith the support from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Astana, the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia began to finance a series of projects targeted at poverty reduction of vulnerable groups in the Khatlon and Rudaki regions of Tajikistan.

    The program funds six projects which intend to create jobs for persons with disabilities and individuals living in rural parts of the country. One of the projects foresees a sewing workshop for groups of persons with disabilities in Kulob and Kurgan Tube with the intention to eventually open their own tailoring shop. Similar workshops will open for social orphans in the Rudaki region. Read more »
