    Donor Conference to be held for Kyrgyzstan

    A group of Russian experts paid a working trip to the Osh City. Main purpose of the visit was to assess the extent of destruction. During the trip, experts met with local authorities and ordinary residents. According to latest figures, 2.500 buildings, including 1.900 residential ones, were destroyed during the clashes.     “Asian Reunion on Silk Road” exhibition in Bishkek

    From July 23 to 25, 2010, an exhibition will be opened, called “Asian Reunion on Silk Road, in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

    USAID will hold a seminar for entrepreneurs of Kyrgyzstan

    USAID will hold a seminar for entrepreneurs of KyrgyzstanIn Bishkek, from July 12 to July 15 in the building of the October district administration of Bishkek city a seminar will be held, called “Theory and practice of regulatory impact analysis techniques with state regulation of business.”

    Analyst K. Izmailov would direct the seminar. The seminar is held under the USAID project to improve the business environment. The aim of the seminar is to introduce a more detailed explanation of the technique, called Regulatory Impact Analysis (RIA), through which the participants would improve their skills to provide quality training regulations and evaluation of incoming documents.

    It is expected that after completing the training, members of the staff of the Bishkek city council, mayor of Bishkek, and structural units of the City Hall will apply in their work the methods of RIA that will reduce the risk of departmental regulations and private lobbying decisions. The technique allows to evaluate both in monetary and qualitative terms, the future or a current effect from the impact of normative legal act, as well as to assess in advance what benefits will receive and what expenses incurred by business, government and society.

    Fundraising Event in Kyrgyz Kazakh House Pasha Restaurant in London

    On the evening of the 7th July, exactly 3 months after the terrible events in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Open Central Asia Magazine hosted a splendid evening to raise money for its own offices that had been looted during the rioting. Some 50 guests enjoyed a fine Central Asian menu at the Pasha restaurant in Camberwell, as well as entertainment from Central Asian Musicians.

    A campaign is launched - I want peace in Kyrgyzstan - in Bishkek and Osh

    A public campaign is running in Bishkek and Osh, under the slogan “I want peace in Kyrgyzstan”, which is actively spreading the message of peace and harmony, and promoting the peaceful settlement of the situation. Mirsulzhan Namazaliev, one of the organizers of the campaign, reported.

    As he announced today on June 23, the initiators and the driving force behind the campaign are active Internet users and a number of civic activists. During this campaign, residents of these cities will distribute various information leaflets, stickers and T-shirts with slogans calling for peace and harmony of citizens of Kyrgyzstan. The participants of the campaign sat up a map with data on the humanitarian aid provided to the residents of the south of Kyrgyzstan.

    Bishkek will host International Forum Kyrgyz Media 2010 - Opportunities, Expectations, and Challenges

    Today, on June 10, 2010, at the “Ak Keme” Hotel Media Policy Institute in conjunction with the Representation of Internews Network in Kyrgyzstan and International Media Support (Denmark) will hold the International Forum “Kyrgyz Media 2010: Opportunities, Expectations, and Challenges”.

    According to the Institute of Media Policy, the forum will be condemned by the problems concerning the decision to nationalize the “Channel Five” and channel “Pyramid”, problems in covering the conflict, the transformation of National Tele-Radio Company into a public channel and etc, as well as ways to solve them.

    The event will be attended by representatives of the Provisional Government, non-profit media, human rights and international organizations.
