According to the Gallup World Poll, Turkmenistan jointed the world’s top twenty happiest countries, leaving behind the CIS countries, as well as Germany, France and Japan. Turkmenistan has taken the 18th place, next to the Great Britain, Mexico and the United Arab Emirates. According to Forbes, 52 percent of respondents surveyed in Turkmenistan admitted that they were totally happy, and only 1 percent of respondents said that they suffered. Denmark is on top of the happiest countries, followed by Finland, Norway, Sweden and the Netherlands.
Researchers of the Gallup surveyed thousands of respondents in 155 countries, between 2005 and 2009. They asked subjects to reflect on their overall satisfaction with their lives, and asked questions about how each subject had felt the previous day. Other than this, respondents were asked to rate if they felt well-rested, respected, free of pain and intellectually engaged.
The ceremony of opening the Epoch of Great Revival of Turkmenistan and Health Reforms-2010 International Conference has taken place at the Exhibition Centre in Ashgabat today. The European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS) will organize a meeting of Azerbaijanis living in Germany.
The event will take place in Berlin on June 12 bringing together members of the Azerbaijan Diaspora in Germany and also the Azeri students studying in Berlin and other cities of Germany.
The meeting will focus on TEAS activity and its ties with Azerbaijan residents living in European countries. The European Azerbaijan Society was launched in November 2008, having been initially established four years earlier as the London Azerbaijan Society. Its objective is to promote Azerbaijan to international audiences and create a sense of community for expatriate Azerbaijanis.
There are hundreds of TEAS members, and the Society regularly organizes Azeri events across Europe in order to raise awareness of the unique, rich and varied culture of the region. TEAS also operates as a networking forum, focusing on areas such as business development, diplomatic relations, culture and education to promote greater understanding and co-operation between Europe and Azerbaijan.

The Institute of Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research (under the Cabinet of Ministries of the Republic of Uzbekistan) in close cooperation with German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) and the Asian Development Bank in Uzbekistan facilitated a constructive and lively exchange between different economic think tanks, scholars, and related government ministries from China, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Germany, and Mongolia.
Several key aspects of financial and economic crisis on key economic sectors were discussed. The forum was officially inaugurated by the Minister of Economy, Mr. Sunatilla Bekenov, with a note to foster strong relationship via exchange between Asian Transition Economies and the importance of learning from one another. A presentation of tourism potential of Uzbekistan was held in Munich, Germany. Representatives of over 30 tourism firms, Lufthansa and state bodies participated at the event.
During the event, the Uzbek diplomats shared information about unique historic-architecture monuments in Uzbekistan and measures on improving tourism infrastructure.
Participants expressed proposals on improving efficiency of cooperation in tourism sector.
