Company «Marakanda Expedition» scientifically supported by the International Institute For Central Asian Studies, founded on the basis of implementation of UNESCO project «Comprehensive Study of the Silk Road – the Path of Dialogue», holds a Summit «Alexander the Great: Dialogue between East and West» on 13-19 October 2014 in Uzbekistan and organizes in its frames an expedition to historical sites of the Hellenistic period.
The goal of the Summit is to establish contacts between scholars and lovers of ancient culture, present geographical landscapes and material evidence of the Eastern campaign of Alexander the Great, to initiate dialogue on the role of his personality in the history of East and West.
The expedition will travel along the key Hellenistic archaeological sites in central and southern Uzbekistan, get acquainted with the museum artifacts, conduct “round table” meetings with scientists and ethnographers of Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Termez and Shahrisabz.
