Creative groups from more than 60 countries to perform at the festival “Sharq taronalari”


The regular press-conference for local and foreign media representatives, devoted to the international music festival “Sharq taronalari” took place in Samarkand on August 26.

Opening the meeting, the Head of Press Service of the international forum Safar Ostonov noted that a very popular festival “Sharq Taronalari” held on the initiative of President Islam Karimov is gaining popularity from year to year throughout the world.

This positive dynamics can be observed, in particular, because of objective and comprehensive coverage of important events by the media. It should be added that more than 200 domestic and over 40 foreign journalists will cover the anniversary forum this year, and the competitive program of the festival will be attended by art groups and performers from over 60 countries. Moreover, an international scientific – practical conference “The unity of musical cultures of the East” started within the framework of the festival. The delegates from about 30 countries present their reports there.

Speaking at a press conference the hokim of Samarkand Akbar Shukurov informed the media about the large-scale preparatory work for the prestigious international forum. According to him, comprehensive measures for the reconstruction of architectural attractions, hotels, improvement of transport infrastructure, the creation of concert venues and landscaping are being implemented in the ancient city. It was noted that within the framework of the preparatory activities on the territory of Samarkand nearly 1.5 million flowers were planted, fountains and boulevards, parks and squares were upgraded.

Professor at the University of Tokyo Dr. Genichi Sugi emphasized the importance of the forthcoming scientific – practical conference held within the festival. According to the scientist, the event will reveal new facets of the Uzbek national musical culture and identity creative expression of other nations.

The director of a specialized research center at the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan, professor Otanazar Matyakubov noted that a series of new discoveries in the field of musical art will be announced at the upcoming scientific forum, presentations will be made about the unique performing instruments. Scientists-art historians also published a collection of reports of the conference to ensure productivity.

It was also announced at the press conference that the press service of the festival established a special prize for journalists for the best coverage of the activities of the forum.
