Inscription of remains of the cities of Suyab, Balasagyn, Nevaket in Kyrgyzstan into the UNESCO World Heritage List will be considered on June 18-23 in Qatar.
The delegation of Kyrgyzstan led by Vice Chairman of UNESCO National Commission, MP Karganbek Samakov, will fly to Qatar in connection with this, the Parliament’s press service reports.
“Dozens of centuries ago, the cities of Suyab, Balasagyn, Nevaket of Chui Valley lying along the Great Silk Road flourished. The remnants of these cities are poorly known historical monuments of Kyrgyzstan heritage,” the press service said.
Inscription of these cities into UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List will create conditions for their comprehensive study. Dissemination of information about these cities by UNESCO will increase the number of incoming tourists, will boost interest in history of Kyrgyzstan, the National Commission believes.
