In New York young dancers from 15 countries, including Kazakhstan have shown such staging as Swan Lake, Don Quixote and Sleeping Beauty ballets. The Moscow State Choreographic Academy, also known as the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, has finished its master class in New York with a bang: with the gala concert at the stage of the Theatre of Contemporary Dance.
Valery Anissimov, People’s Artiste of Russia, Bolshoi Ballet Academy professor:
“Kazakhstan students have arrived here for the last three weeks of the master class. I enjoyed their performance very much. You will be able to see their performances, since they are going to give solo stagings. We will see if they were excellent students.”
Aizhan Kangozhina, student, A. Seleznev Almaty choreographic college
“It is obvious that the professionalism is increasing every year. Maybe those who haven’t shown their best this year will succeed next year.”
The Moscow State Choreographic Academy was founded in the 18th century by Catherine the Great and is one of the oldest and prestigious ballet schools in the world. Every ballet dancer dreams to study there, and that is why the Academy has organized summer courses in New York. By means of these courses, young ballet dancers can become familiar with tradition of Russian dancers.
Erlan Idrissov, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the USA:
“It is amazing! I believe that Kazakhstan dancers will adopt a lot of necessary skills from teachers of the Bolshoi Ballet Academy. I believe that if the state and private sector promote participation in such programmes, our students will be happy.”
After the end of the concert, which involved all participants of the master class, organizers have defined four of the best dancers. Young prizewinners are preparing for a trip to Moscow, where they will have a possibility to enter the Moscow State Choreographic Academy. Such outstanding figures of classical ballet as Maya Plisetskaya, Yekaterina Maximova and Vladimir Malakhov have graduated from this academy.
