Seoul International Music Competition was established by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Dong-A Ilbo, the most prestigious national newspaper in Korea. The competition is held annually for the categories of piano, violin, and voice, in a rotating sequence, with the aim of promoting cultural exchanges among nations through music, and supporting talented young musicians from all over the world. The category for 2011 competition is piano and the event will take place in Seoul during the following dates: 12 April (Tue) ~ 24 April (Sun), 2011
The Dong-A Ilbo will set up a Management Committee and a Secretariat for the planning and running of the Competition. The Competition Jury will be organized by the Management Committee, consisting of musicians of prominent standing from Korea and abroad. The music competition is sponsored by LG company and supported by Daejeon Culture & Arts Center, as well as Changwon Sungsan Arts Hall.

There will be cash awards totalling US $122,000.

• Second Prize: US $30,000
• Third Prize: US $20,000
• Fourth Prize: US $10,000
• Fifth Prize: US $ 7,000
• Sixth Prize: US $ 5,000
Gifted young musicians from Russia, USA, France, Spain, Israel, Britain, China, Korea,
Japan and other countries will take part in this competition. The Secretariat of Seoul Music Competition
also invited Kyrgyz pianists to participate in this event. The application deadline is November 12, 2010.
