Kyrgyzstan will host a reading campaign – Kitepstan (The Country of Book) – on April 23 dedicated to the World Book Day.
The event is aimed to draw public attention to the reading of books. It will take place in Bishkek and the country’s regions with the assistance of local libraries.
An opportunity to buy books and take autographs from writers and poets will be provided. Mass reading of books will be held. Each guest will bring a book and will read it within 10 minutes. The campaign is accompanied by live performances of local celebrities, according to the arrangers.
The Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism, mayor’s office of Bishkek, the Publishers Association, Dialogue Eurasia Platform, and youth fund Yiyk Ata-Jurt organize the event.
