    Living Epics and Contemporary Epic Reciters

    Aigine Cultural Research Center is pleased to announce its upcoming
    international seminar on Living Epics and Contemporary Epic Reciters
    to be held on June 27  July 1 2012 in Kyrgyzstan. The seminar will be
    held with the financial support of The Christensen Fund and in the
    framework of the scientific symposium The Spiritual Heritage of the
    Turkic World of Central Eurasia, jointly organized by the Institute of
    Ethnology and Anthropology, Russian Academy of Science.

    The goal of the seminar is to discuss, analyze and compare the current
    state of different world epics and contemporary scientific works and
    approaches in studying them. Epic heritage of different nations is a
    unique source of knowledge needed during systematic, and most
    importantly, spiritual crisis.

    Aigine CRC invites scholars and experts studying the epics as well as
    epic reciters to take part in the upcoming seminar. Participants are
    expected to deliver 15-20 minute lecture related to epic studies
    including those subjects not commonly researched by contemporary
    science. Epic reciters are expected to share with their experience of
    becoming and being a reciter and on their role in preserving and
    developing the epic.

    Please submit your application with the subject of your lecture and an
    abstract of no more than 200 words to office(at)aigine.kg no later
    than February 15 2012. Your application also should include your CV
    indicating your education background, list of publications (if you
    have) and all your contact details. Full texts of your
    lecture/presentation (up to 20,000 characters including spaces) should
    be sent to the same email address before March 31 2012.

    Only limited number of participants will receive full or partial
    funding to participate in the seminar. In all other cases,
    participants are expected to cover seminar related costs on their own.

    Seminar registration fee for participants from Russia is 500 RUB, from
    Central Asian countries -500 KGS and for other international
    participants -200 Euro.
