The 200th birth anniversary of the prominent Turkmen classical poet Mollanepes whose works are a treasure of the national and world literature is celebrated this year.
Mollanepes’s rich cultural heritage ranking among the world spiritual treasures is a significant and integral part of the centuries-old national culture. The poet’s works glorifying the beauty of the Turkmen land, love, moral purity and spiritual wealth remain topical in our times. His works are translated in many languages of the world. The destan Zokhre and Takhir in the Turkmen and Russian languages and the collected poems in the Turkmen and Azerbaijani languages became a present for the admirers of Mollanepes’s poetry for this anniversary year. The publication of the collected poems in the Uzbek language will considerably broaden readership.
The Turkmen and Uzbek scientists translated Mollanepes’s poems, which had been published this spring in the new book in the Turkmen language containing 119 poems including the previously unknown works. Along with the works which characterize Mollanepes as a classical lyric poet this book includes the poems unknown to wide readership. Mollanepes’s heroic and patriotic poems were found in the depositaries of the manuscripts in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tatarstan and Russia.
The publication of Moallanepes’s works in the Uzbek language vividly illustrates traditional centuries-old spiritual and cultural relations between two fraternal peoples which are enhanced in the epoch of new Revival and will promote Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation.
