The 11th meeting of SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) Culture Ministers was held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on June 10.
The Ministers discussed the current state and prospects of development cooperation in cultural sphere.
The participants exchanged views on implementation of the agreement between the Governments of the SCO Member States in the field of culture signed in Bishkek on 16 August 2007.
The sides advocated for further development of multilateral and bilateral cultural ties in the framework of SCO, mutual understanding among the peoples, as well as for preservation of diversity of cultures, mutual respect and dissemination of knowledge about the traditions and customs of the peoples living within the SCO space.
They expressed willingness to establish and develop cooperation in the cultural sphere with the observer states of SCO and its dialogue partners.
The next meeting of Culture Ministers is scheduled to be held in Russia in 2015.
