UN develops project to support Government of Turkmenistan

The Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the UN Secretariat is currently developing a project to support the Government of Turkmenistan. The project provides for a specific program of cooperation in the field of retraining, development of regulatory documents and other spheres. This was announced on June 28 by Alexei Tikhomirov, representative of the department, during a meeting with President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

During the meeting, they also discussed a number of issues relating to various aspects and prospects of cooperation. Turkmenistan and UN act as reliable and long-term partners in achieving the Millennium Development Goals, the implementation of which will be discussed at the upcoming regular session of the UN General Assembly in the autumn this year. The President of Turkmenistan will attend this session along with other heads of state, the agency said.
