Ex-President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Roza Otunbaeva, opens Kyrgyzstan’s first travel forum

The ex-President gave the keynote address to 300 delegates from 15 countries representing 200 organisations at the opening ceremony of the Discovery Central Asia Travel Forum 2012. The forum took place on 28-29 April at the Golden Dragon Hotel, Bishkek, in Kyrgyzstan, and is considered to be the first ever travel forum held in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Attendees from Australia to Japan and Tajikistan, from the USA and the UK to Uzbekistan, also heard from the Deputy Minister for Culture and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic, Bakyt Kenenbaev, and 28 other speakers proposing new ways to develop Central Asia’s visitor economy.

Education quality issues to be discussed in Dushanbe

A two-day consultative workshop to discuss problems existing in the country’s education sector is opening in Dushanbe today, according to the Ministry of Education.

The source at a MoE said the meeting would bring together education department heads from all regions of the country. The quality of education in high schools will be a major topic of the workshop.

The meeting participants will consider issues related to providing secondary schools with textbooks, studying abroad, etc. The meeting will also sum up the results of the republican School Olympiads.

President inaugurates Tajik-Greek JV, new school in Bobojonghafurov districtPresident Emomali Rahmon has inaugurated a new Tajik-Greek joint venture, Olympia, in Bobojonghafurov district, Sughd province.

Education Ministers of CIS discussed prospects of international cooperationThe 17th Conference of Education Ministers of the CIS member states was held on Thursday in Moscow. The issues regarding prospects of cooperation of corresponding departments in the medium term were discussed.

Leaders of the Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund of the CIS member states and the CIS Executive Committee took part in the conference. The sides considered the issues regarding the organization of schools for young scientists, school and student contests and development of a network of collaborative institutions and their branches. Japan to allocate grant for education of youth from UzbekistanThe Government of Japan will allocate grant for 233 million Japanese yens (about US$2.65 million) for organization of education of Uzbekistan representatives in Japan.
