DUSHANBE – Tajikistan’s area has shrunk by about 1% from last year, and not everyone is happy about it.
On January 12, the lower house of parliament ratified a Sino-Tajik agreement re-defining their border. Tajikistan ceded 1,142 sq km of its total 143,000-sq-km territory — land in the east, that the government says is mountainous and lacks natural resources.
