Irish Senator, Fiona O’Malley, volunteered through VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas) with The State Committee on Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism of Tajikistan and the local government of Penjkent. Open Central Asia tracked her down to get an exclusive interview.

A republican seminar to discuss issue related to development of tourism in Tajikistan will take place in Dushanbe on July 6, according to the Ministry of Culture (MoC).
The source at a MoC says the seminar is conducted within the framework of announcement of Dushanbe as Capital of Islamic Culture in 2010.
“The seminar participants are expected to discuss the significance of the revival Great Silk Road for development of tourism, government’s support for development of tourism in Tajikistan, development of the Zarafshon tourism zone, tourism products manufacturing and other issues,” the source said.
Tourism development issues to be discussed in Dushanbe
The first meeting of the intergovernmental Turkmen-French Commission for economic cooperation was held in conference hall of the President Hotel in Ashgabat. The heads and representatives of the government institutions of Turkmenistan and the French Republic participated in the forum.The commission is co-chaired by Vice Premier D.
