Effected water resources management in region in focus of international forum in TurkmenistanThe international forum entitled “Central Asia Water Dialogue Meeting: Implementation of the IFAS Summit Conclusions and Outcomes of the UN Secretary-General’s visit to Central Asia” took place in the Turkmen capital. The participants of the forum held at the UN Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia were the high-ranking officials of the Central Asian governments and the authoritative international organizations including the United Nations, the European Union, OSCE, the World Bank and the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS). Baku recognized city of class A by United NationsThe United Nations increased estimates of Azerbaijani capital Baku in its system of classification of service sites in range of A up to E, Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

International conference on disarmament in Central Asia opens in Ashgabat

International conference on disarmament in Central Asia opens in AshgabatThe International Conference on disarmament in Central Asia and Caspian Basin opened in Ashgabat today. It has been organized by Turkmenistan under the United Nations auspices. Delegates from the Central Asian countries and other countries, as well as prestigious international and regional organizations, whose activities are in one way or another relate to this problematic, will participate in the high-level forum.
According to the official report, remaining committed to the disarmament process, reduction of the arsenals of weapons, especially weapons of mass destruction and their proliferation, Turkmenistan has been active in this direction. The opening in the Turkmen capital of an international conference should be another important step towards the establishment of the participatory dialogue to resolve this problem.

It is expected that the forum will define further plans for joint activities of the Central Asian countries with the view to fulfilling their commitments as well as measures to establish close and constructive cooperation on disarmament issues with all interested international organizations.

Uzbek journalists will be trained in the UN headquarters in New YorkUN Information Centre in Uzbekistan announced a contest for journalists for an internship, which is headquartered in the United Nations in New York.

The IPS UN Bureau has an internship programme for a minimum of four weeks and a maximum of three months. The programme is open primarily to those aspiring to be journalists — and specially those interested in covering UN-related issues, including poverty, human rights, health care, refugees, children, disarmament, peacekeeping, gender empowerment and sustainable development.
