Tashkent to host Information and Library week


The third National Information and Library Week “INFOLIB-2014” will be held at the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi on October 27-31, the press service of the Library reports.

It is planned to hold professional events; book fairs of publishers and booksellers; meetings with writers, musicians, pop singers, artists, archaeologists, representatives of civil society, youth and international organizations; to conduct various master classes, literary competitions, as well as special activities for children and youth; the screening of films from the film fund of the National Library.

A training workshop will be held for specialists of information and library services on the conservation and restoration of rare books and manuscripts, as well as a round table discussion on theme “Digital media content of a modern library and information environment” and presentation of the National Library’s new projects.

The main purpose of the week is to strengthen young people’s desire and interest in independently obtaining of information; detailed introduction to its new social, political, scientific, educational literature; increase the level of culture information and preservation of the cultural heritage of the country and others.
