THE ASIA HOUSE FAIR
Fine Crafts & Design from Asian Artisans
FRIDAY 15th– SATURDAY 16th APRIL 2011
Asia House is a charity that aims to promote greater appreciation and understanding of Asian countries, their arts, religions and economies, and to foster closer communication between the peoples of Asia and Europe.
The ASIA HOUSE FAIR 2011 showcases fine and innovative work from artisans, designers and master craftsmen from many Asian countries including Iran, Central Asia, India, Pakistan, Myanmar, Indonesia, China and Japan.
The Asia House Fair brings together leading specialists in the Arts and Crafts of Asia, selling antique and contemporary textiles, carpets and rugs, cushions and quilts, traditional costume and clothes, shoes and bags, jewellery, lacquer, paintings and works of art.
The aim of the ASIA HOUSE FAIR is to highlight exciting innovations in design and technique and promote the products of many cooperatives and craftspeople working in the area of fair trade – rediscovering and reviving ancient craft traditions for the benefit of local communities. New productions can be seen alongside antique originals that have inspired designers and given Asian art and craft enormous popularity in this country for centuries.
Visitors to The Asia House Fair will find a busy and colourful marketplace full of wonderful products to view and buy in the elegant setting of an 18th century building which is the home of Asia in Central London.
